SDV Supports Alstom in its “Supply Chain for Growth” Ambition

July 13th, 2015

On Wednesday, July 8, 2015, at its headquarters in Saint-Ouen (France), our customer Alstom organized an internal communication event related to the issues of the supply chain performance for the managers / directors of their global network and with the participation of their three main logistics partners.

The objective was to sensitize the audience on the importance of optimizing the supply flows and demonstrate the full extent of the control of the supply chain which goes beyond the only transport management (procurement, logistics, planning, supplier’s development etc.).

SDV naturally responded positively to Alstom, a strategic customer with whom a long-standing partnership was formed.
Our ambition is indeed to support our customers in the conquest of international markets.

The day took place around two events:
- 2 ½ days conferences when each partner presented its activity for 1 hour and the services performed to Alstom. SDV presented the characteristics of international trade between Europe, India and China, as well as Air and Sea trends on these trade lanes to finish with a presentation of its Alstom management of flows to Canada, Africa South, India and China.
- From 12:00 to 3:00 p.m., a permanence in the lobby was set up with a booth where SDV team showcased to Alstom teams its global, sustainable (Save Program) and innovative solutions supported by an integrated information system that provides comprehensive visibility and control of the supply chain.

Finally, a quiz on the International Logistics of Alstom consisting of 20 multiple choice questions was sent to all their staff with the opportunity to win one day visit with 3PLs of a commercial port and observe the loading / unloading containers operations. SDV chose the ports of Le Havre in France, Montreal in Canada and Johannesburg in South Africa to host the lucky winners.

This day was a great success as witnessed Mr. Laurent Bihry, Director of International Logistics at Alstom: "Your enthusiasm to support us in this unusual project, the long preparation sessions to fine-tune the content of the presentations, the animation of the booth, and of courses your speech during the conferences, were much appreciated. The day was a success. You have greatly contributed to it, thank you again! "
