SDV East Timor Appointed Ground Handling Provider for Garuda Indonesia

March 13th, 2015

SDV East Timor has been appointed as ground-handling provider for Garuda Indonesia in October 2014. Indonesia’s national airline is flying every day between Dili airport and Denpasar/Bali.

Created in November 1999, SDV East Timor is the main ground-handling provider at Dili airport, servicing CHC Helicopters since 2002 (operating four Airbus Helicopters - 2 x AS332, 2 x EC225) between Dili airport and the Bayu-Undan offshore facility located in the Timor Sea), and Airnorth since 2002 (operating daily flights between Dili and Darwin). SDV also services most of the charter flights landing at Dili airport (including VIP and military flights, medivac, chartered flight for the oil & gas industry, etc.), and eventually adding Garuda Indonesia to the list.

SDV’s services cover checking-in and boarding of passengers, handling of luggage and cargoes, issuance of boarding passes, issuance of passengers and cargo manifests, calculation of weight and balance of aircraft, preparation of trim sheet as well as validation and preparation of general declaration (GENDEC) forms.

In addition to its ground-handling activities, SDV East Timor also provides “Meet & Greet” services at Dili airport, facilitating passengers through formalities on arrival and departure (including immigration, customs and payment of airport taxes).

Also, SDV operates an X-Ray machine as part of the passenger screening services and assists with the drug and alcohol testing procedures randomly conducted on the passengers flying offshore for the oil & gas industry. SDV East Timor additionally provides airport transfers when required, as well as skilled drivers and travel coordinators in East Timor.

With over 12 years of experience in ground-handling activities in East Timor and a team of 25 staff based at Dili airport, SDV East Timor has decided to take it a step further by embarking on the IATA Safety Audit for Ground Operations (ISAGO), the industry’s first global standard for supervising and auditing of ground service providers, to be completed within end of 2015.
