Bolloré Logistics Zambia is proud to have been re-awarded the Commercial Service Logistics Award for 2016 by the Kitwe & District Chamber of Commerce and Industry, for the second year in a row.
The operations in Chingola include a value-adding warehouse located 45 km from the Kasumbalesa border in the Copperbelt province in Zambia.
The CHUB (Acronym of Chingola and Hub), as it is affectionately named by its clients and employees, was built for one of the leading mining companies by Bolloré Transport & Logistics and started its operations in April 2014. It serves as a transit platform for commodities and chemical reagents moving between the mine's site in Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and South Africa. They handle an average of 30,764 tons per month of metals in and out of the hub using an average of 927 trucks. The hub also handles an average of 29,809 tons per month of reagents in and out of the hub using an average of 881 trucks.
The Kitwe & District Chamber of Commerce and Industry holds an annual awards ceremony at which the Chamber presents these awards to companies who have excelled in their fields during the course of the year. Representatives from the Chamber conduct site visits during an annual tour of the Copperbelt, in order to nominate companies for the awards in various industry categories.
The site visit by the Chamber allowed Ms. Christine Fisher, branch manager of the Chingola Hub, the opportunity to showcase the goals, strategies and achievements of CHUB and the Bolloré Group as a whole. Bolloré Logistics Zambia was then once again nominated in the Logistics category.
"The success of CHUB is mainly due to close coordination and cooperation of all involved parties, which are the leading mining company, the transporters and all Bolloré offices working on the South Africa-Chingola Hub-DRC corridor", says Christine. "We are very proud of this achievement. We have all learnt a lot and continue to do so."
The CHUB has also established a good working relationship with Zambian customs officials, mostly due to its dynamism and the clean record the CHUB has kept with Zambian customs throughout the time it has been in operation. Another key element of the CHUB's success is its good safety record with no serious accident in its two years and more of activity.
Dedicated and motivated teams on the ground, high commitment from a leading mining company and Bolloré Group's management as well as all stakeholders, all contribute to the success of CHUB and its activities, allowing it to be awarded the Commercial Service Logistics Award for 2016 by the Chamber.
