GL Events, a French company with a global reach in the events industry, won the exclusive contract for the audio-visual coverage of the 5th African Union – European Union (AU-EU) Summit held 29–30 November in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. The international gathering was attended by over 80 heads of state, representing 55 African countries and 28 European countries.
GL Events, a long-standing customer of Bolloré Logistics, witnessed the involvement of all of our teams in delivering an end-to-end equipment transport service from France to Ivory Coast. The latter was transported from the port of Abidjan to the Sofitel Hotel Ivoire, site of the AU-EU Summit 2017. It was the responsibility of the Ivory Coast teams to return the equipment to the port of Abidjan after the event. This high-stakes operation required great responsiveness to meet the tight deadlines.
The cargo consisted of eight TEUs containing a total of 263 pieces of lighting, sound, video, simultaneous interpretation and internet access equipment totalling approximately 28,904 kg. As for import operations, our teams customs-cleared the packages as soon as they arrived at the port of Abidjan, unloaded them and forwarded them with great care to make them available to the customer in perfect condition and on time at the event site.
Once again, it was up to our operational teams, after the event, to carry out the entire export process, from picking up packages from the event site to loading them on a ship to Europe. This operation included the export booking, positioning of empty containers, completing the customs formalities to allow the containers to be loaded within two days, and the docking of the latter as well as their shipment.
With their experience in large-scale projects, the Bolloré Logistics teams were able to meet the expectations of GL Events by conducting the operations with professionalism and responsiveness.
“On behalf of GL Events, we would like to thank you for your contribution to the AU-EU Summit 2017. Your professionalism, availability and flexibility were of great help to us on the logistics/transport side, which is always essential to the success of a project. Please convey our sincere thanks to the teams involved. We look forward to working with you again,” said Florian Bernard, Project Director – AU-EU Summit 2017.
Bolloré Transport & Logistics Ivory Coast is delighted with the successful coordination of its teams, which made it possible to complete all of these operations on time, at the service of a leading company in its sector of activity.
