Since July 2016, Bolloré Logistics USA has been providing global freight forwarding services for a large producer of high-fructose corn syrup, the liquid sweetener used by virtually all soft-drink manufacturers. Offering hundreds of nutritive sweeteners and industrial starches, the company is one of the largest corn refiners in the US.
When the company selected Bolloré Logistics USA as their logistics provider, they needed to modernize their internal procedure by reducing operations reliance on email and phone communication for booking requests, booking confirmation, document management, warehouse scheduling, and shipment status.
This client managed to streamline their ocean export operations in as little as one year through Bolloré Logistics' solution, LINK.
Today, their use of LINK, a web-based collaborative platform speeds processing of bookings through electronic booking requests, automated booking confirmation, daily warehouse fulfillment schedules, document management, pre-defined shipment tracking, and customized operational, customs and KPI reporting.
The entire booking process is automated: the client initializes the booking request which is transmitted electronically to our TMS. Once the booking is confirmed by Bolloré Logistics Chicago Ocean department, an automated notification is sent to the client's service team. Each designated warehouse receives a daily booking report, which will schedule order fulfillment accordingly. Shipment documents are uploaded by the client on the LINK platform for increased visibility and accessibility on both sides.
Through customized vendor specific monitoring, the client can evaluate their primary vendors by volume and trade lanes. This is achieved via LINK at the user level through customized queries, making the customer self-sufficient.
The next step for the client will be to digitize movement of each shipping container for export. They plan to achieve this by implementing LINK Mobile QR scanning with their truckers and warehouses. Bolloré Logistics' Mobile App will provide their warehouse workers shipment information and documents in the palm of their hand. This solution will also allow our Chicago office to communicate directly with the client's warehouses on daily scheduled pickups.
The food giant is now looking at expanding their USA-based solutions to their global locations.
