Bolloré Logistics Singapore Receives the SEC Singapore Environmental Achievement Award

November 15th, 2019

In August 2019, Bolloré Logistics Singapore won the 2019 Singapore Environment Council (SEC) Singapore Environmental Achievement Award (SEAA) under the Transport & Logistics sector.

This prestigious award which recognizes Bolloré Logistics Singapore as a steward of environmental excellence was accredited by the Singapore Environment Council (SEC). Guest-of-Honor Mr. Masagos Zulkifli, Minister for the Environment and Water Resources, was present to personally hand out the award to Bolloré Logistics Singapore’s team.

Mr. Frederic Marcerou, Managing Director at Bolloré Logistics Singapore, was present for the occasion to share the joy with the team: “We are extremely honored to receive this environmental achievement award. It is a great recognition for our achievements, and an encouragement to keep pursuing our efforts towards sustainability across our operations in Singapore. This particular program was built in close partnership with our customer L’Oréal, with whom we share the same values regarding environmental protection.” said Mr. Marcerou.

Bolloré Logistics Singapore ascribes the recognition to the following projects:

1) New Blue Hub sustainable warehouse in Singapore:

After the success of Green Hub, the first warehouse in Singapore to be Green Mark Platinum certified, Bolloré Logistics continues to strive for excellence in sustainability with the opening of Blue Hub. The new facility was recently named a recipient of ‘Green Mark Platinum’ under BCA’s Green Mark program, and is earmarked to be LEED Gold certified. It is also targeting the BiodiverCity© [1] certificate, a French Label equivalent to NParks’ Landscape Excellence Assessment Framework (LEAF), and could thus be the first building in Asia to get it.

Improvement in hardware stems from the strengthening of “heartware”. In line with our core motto – People Powered Innovation, Bollore Logistics undertakes to introduce employee centricity into the culture with Blue Hub. From lush outdoor relax corners to gym facilities, the building presented a conducive environment to help nurture employee development.

This new construction thus meets the four drivers of the "Responsible Building" Charter signed on July 1st, 2019 by the CEO of Bolloré Logistics that aimed at reducing the company's overall environmental footprint.

2) Collapsible trucking solution for APAC cross-border:

Our award-winning collapsible truck solution, as validated by Singapore Business Review, was the first of such solutions in the Asia Pacific Region. The International Business Award we received serves as recognition to the systems put in place to achieve annual estimated carbon emissions savings of 2,500 kg CO2e. Winning this award is a testament of Bolloré Logistics’ efforts to lead and advocate for positive environmental outcomes with our customers, and also within the logistics industry.

3) Continuous Improvement Projects on CO2 and waste reduction (carton/wood reusing and recycling):

In the same way, sector-specific initiatives were critical for environmental success. Bolloré Logistics Singapore set aspirational goals to reduce CO2 emissions through packaging waste. For this specific operation, a total of 436 tons of cardboard and 725 tons of wood were saved in 2018, which translates to potential carbon emissions savings of more than 210 tons CO2e.

4) Bolloré Logistics’ CSR program “Powering Sustainable Logistics”:

Rolled out in more than 100 countries, the CSR program "Powering Sustainable Logistics" aims to boost the environmental and societal value of Bolloré Logistics at every stage of the supply chain. This program comprises 11 commitments and sets 54 objectives to be achieved by 2027, detailed in a first progress report released in June 2019.
