Bolloré Logistics Participates in the EcoTransIT World Meetings

April 24th, 2019

As a new member for a few months, Bolloré Logistics participated in the EcoTransIT World Meetings on April 3rd, 2019 at the Cité Internationale Universitaire in Paris and was represented by Odile Maarek, CSR Director, and Anne-Sophie Fribourg, Head of Sea freight Procurement.

The objectives of the day were to take stock of the sector's needs, tools and initiatives for measuring and reducing GHG and pollutant emissions and to discuss how the EcoTransIT World ecosystem can accompany the various actors.

For more than 20 years, EcoTransIT World has developed a methodology and a tool that can measure GHG emissions and air pollutants, compare the emissions of different transport chains and manage the evolution of the environmental performance of the global transport chains.

The ecosystem is based on three pillars:

1.    A working group that brings together industry players and researchers to maintain and develop a methodology and a recognized global tool for calculating the environmental impacts of freight transport.

2.    A robust and transparent methodology validated by scientific institutes, including GLEC, as well as a free online awareness tool.

3.    Industrialized solutions allowing users to integrate operational / business data. In 2018, 180 million calculations were made.

Shippers' views on GHG and pollutant emissions from logistics chains were presented at a roundtable with testimonials from Anne Dubost, Senior Global Lead Logistics & Sustainability, HEINEKEN; François-Régis Letourneau, Corporate Supply Chain Standards and Prospective Director, L'Oréal and Denis Choumert, President of AUTF. The results are ambitious targets for reducing CO2 emissions and very strong expectations of shippers to obtain comparable data.

This is confirmed by Odile Maarek: "A growing number of our customers are asking us to help them improve the environmental impact of their supply chain and EcoTransIT allows us to calculate the emissions of their supply chains. In addition, the fact that more and more freight forwarders are using EcoTransIT allows shippers to obtain consistent and comparable consolidated data."

By integrating the EcoTransIT solution into its GHG emission measurement system, Bolloré Logistics is continuing to implement the "Provide our customers with sustainable supply chain solutions" leveraging of its "Powering Sustainable Logistics" CSR program.
