Held in Kinshasa from September 18th to 21st, 2018, this event gathered the major players involved in the development of the Western Corridor of the DRC, including policymakers, investors looking for new logistics solutions, the main national banks and real estate developers.
The theme of the forum was "the Western corridor of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), projects to be developed and business opportunities". It was an occasion to present development opportunities in infrastructure, energy, housing, trade and multimodal transport to economic partners in the sub region in order to obtain funding. Topics of discussion included the construction of a road-rail bridge linking Kinshasa to Brazzaville, financed in cooperation with China.
During the various public presentations, Sébastien CUCHE, Commercial Director at Bolloré Transport & Logistics Kinshasa, explained how Bolloré Logistics was able to enhance the Corridor Pointe-Noire-Brazzaville-Kinshasa to make it a strategic axis promoting the economic and social development of the entire sub region. He insisted on the importance of improving national infrastructure such as logistics hub connections by rail, necessary for safer and smoother transport, and also the collaboration to be achieved between logistics players.
Bolloré Logistics has operated this corridor since July 2016 and developed a customised solution for our partner maritime companies: the BL Direct (BLD). This new logistics solution ensures the rapid processing of containers at their arrival at Pointe-Noire as well as their transport to Kinshasa, reducing transit time to 8 days. During the first half of 2018, we handled over 650 containers.
For Yves DEBIESMES, General Manager Bolloré Transport & Logistics Kinshasa, "It was an opportunity to demonstrate our know-how in multimodal transport and show our involvement in the development of the Congolese economy". Bolloré Transport & Logistics is present in the DRC since 1953.
