Bolloré Logistics, represented by Thierry Ehrenbogen, recently joined the Act4nature – Companies for biodiversity initiative launched by Entreprises pour l'environnement (EPE) on 10 July at the GoodPlanet Foundation's headquarters, located at the Domaine de Longchamp in Paris.
The association, presided by Jean-Dominique Senard, CEO of the Michelin Group, brings together around fifty large French and international companies. It has joined forces with scientific experts and NGOs such as the French Agency for Biodiversity (AFB) and the WWF to launch this unique initiative that seeks to create a genuine international dynamic among companies by 2020. Biodiversity is threatened in many places around the world. Scientists, economists and public authorities all agree. In fact, this is the driving theme of the next Conference of the Parties (COP), which will be held from 9 to 20 November 2020 in Beijing, China. Act4nature aims to create a united national and international dynamic through the involvement, to date, of 65 business leaders counting from all sectors along with their employees and stakeholders. By joining Act4nature, Bolloré Logistics is one of the companies that have chosen to integrate biodiversity into their strategy, activities and value chain to meet the biodiversity goals set by the international community.
With the aim of reducing its overall environmental impact, Bolloré Logistics has been conducted, in partnership with an ecological consulting firm, an active policy, in place since 2013, to limit its impact on biodiversity, reflected in a Biodiversity Charter. It was first rolled out in France at four pilot sites: the logistics hubs in Roissy and Le Havre as well as the Nantes site (all BiodiverCity® awarded), and the Bolloré Logistics headquarters in Puteaux.
The company's biodiversity management system is based on the concept of "Think global, act local" and is gradually being expanded internationally. One key project is the construction of a pilot logistics hub in Singapore, which is in the process of receiving BiodiverCity® label. Bolloré Logistics is one of the pioneering companies in France to have implemented a biodiversity management system and has been certified by Ecocert® for its "Biodiversity Commitment" since 2015.
