Bolloré Logistics and Antrak* mining teams attended the Mining Indaba from February 5-8, 2018, in Cape Town, South Africa. The largest mining exhibition in Africa brought together over 220 mining companies, 166 junior mining companies and 40 government delegations. The event consisted in conferences on the current issues faced by the industry and outlook for the mining market in Africa.
Mining Indaba was attended by over 400 investors who discussed about new topics, including issues related to automation and the new initiatives taken to encourage investment and enhance the safety of mining sites, among others. In addition, recent political changes in Angola, South Africa and Zimbabwe and the revision of the RDC mining code were at the core of the debate.
The delegation of around twenty Bolloré Logistics delegates attending the event – from the Head Office in France, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Senegal, Ghana, Australia, Canada and Japan – has joined our teams in South Africa to reassert our commitment to mining industry stakeholders, in a recovering market.
As part of the development of our future projects, our delegates organized client meetings with mining companies such as IAMGOLD, B2Gold, Rio Tinto and AngloGold; mining suppliers such as Komatsu, Samsung and Orica; and mining engineers (EPCs) including DRA, SENET and Hatch. Discussions covered mainly gold, copper and cobalt activities. Since they play a crucial role in the energy transition and production of Lithium-ion battery, demand exceeds production, and their cost is rising exponentially. Within this bullish context, Bolloré Logistics is determined to be a key player to meet the current and future needs of stakeholders in the mining sector.
This 2018 edition has highlighted the new perspectives for the market. By mobilizing its teams, Bolloré Logistics demonstrated its active determination to play a key role in the renewal of this industrial sector.
