Bolloré Logistics participated in the "A Humanitarian Boat for Lebanon" operation set up by the CMA CGM group.
This operation was organized following the terrible explosion that took place in Lebanon on August 4, 2020, the damage of this disaster forced more than 3000 residents of the Lebanese capital to be homeless, the damage consisting of billions of dollars.
The "A Humanitarian Boat for Lebanon" expedition delivered emergency supplies and basic goods and goods provided by NGO partners of the CMA CGM Foundation and the Group's partner companies, which will then be distributed to 18 NGOs, 4 hospitals and the Lebanese Red Cross.
The operation also benefited from the support of highly mobilized French public institutions (Crisis and Support Centre of the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, SUD Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Region, Department of Bouches du Rhône, City of Marseille...).
The transport of goods was carried out via a CMA CGM Group ship diverted from its usual service and departed from the port of Marseille (France) on 25 August 2020 to reach Beirut (Lebanon) as quickly as possible.
The Bolloré Logistics teams in Marseille has provided a lot of support to the System U group in their process of donating worth of goods to load the ship. Bolloré Logistics took over the operational management of the System U group's goods; instructions, shipping follow-up, customs procedures, loading of the ship, transport of containers, reception and unloading by Bolloré Logistics teams in Lebanon.
The operation took place over three weeks and ended on 31 August 2020 at the Port of Beirut, where French President Emmanuel Macron and CMA CGM Group CEO Rodolphe Saadé witnessed the ship being unloaded.
In this outpouring of solidarity, a great motivation was imbued with the Bolloré Logistics teams in Marseille and Beirut who invested as much as possible throughout the operation in order to meet the deadlines imposed.
