Following up on its successful achievement of the ISO14001:2015 certification in 2019, Bolloré Logistics Taiwan has continued its efforts towards greater environmental sustainability with the launch of a first hybrid truck for local deliveries – in collaboration with long-term partner Chieh Yu.
The Hino 300 HV was selected to meet growing demand for greener logistics solutions on the domestic market and comes equipped with a nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) battery which has the advantage of proven reliability, safety and durability even in high current applications, as well as resilience to overcharging. It is a 6.5 tons truck with a payload capacity of 3 tons per trip. The new Hino Hybrid can also accelerate gently without increasing diesel engine revs, using the electric motor for propulsion instead. Additionally, the vehicle will cover nearly 20,000 km per year, plying from clients' warehouses up to their boutiques anywhere within Taiwan island.
This translates overall to up to 20% energy savings, resulting from a reduction of 9 tons CO2e every 70,000 km – the equivalent of 135 tree seedlings grown for 10 years. In line with Bolloré Logistics Taiwan's goal of becoming an industry leader in Green Supply Chain Solutions, the deployment of the hybrid truck also serves to greatly reduce fine particles emissions and noise pollution at the local level.
